Caesars ending its operations in Dubai

(Dubai).- Just as gaming opportunities seem to be heating up in the United Arab Emirates, one Las Vegas-based company is exiting the market.

Caesars ending its operations in Dubai

Caesars Entertainment will no longer operate a non-gaming hotel and resort in Dubai starting in November, according to an announcement Wednesday from Singapore-based hotel operator Banyan Tree Group, which will rebrand Caesars Palace Dubai as Banyan Tree Dubai.

The UAE announced last week the formation of a gaming regulatory authority to create and oversee the framework for a national lottery and casino gaming.

Caesars Entertainment opened the non-gaming Caesars Palace Bluewaters Dubai in 2018 and was managing the resort for Dubai Holding, the developer of Bluewaters. Caesars officials could not be reached for comment and the company has not made any Securities and Exchange Commission disclosures.

However, during recent quarterly earnings conference calls, Caesars CEO Tom Reeg said the company was no longer interested in international casino operations beyond its Caesars-branded hotel-casino in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
